Lorenzo was born in Borgonovo Val Tidone, in the province of Piacenza, on June 6, 1974. Before pursuing his passion for violin making, he studied classical guitar and computer coding, developing skills that would later complement his craftsmanship.

In 1997, he earned his diploma from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, where he trained under the guidance of Master Vincenzo Bissolotti. Bissolotti taught him the classical Cremonese method of instrument making, which relies on an internal mold as the foundation for construction. Lorenzo has since remained faithful to this tradition.

After completing his studies, he worked and collaborated in the workshop of Master violin maker Francesco Bissolotti, where he specialized in crafting violins, violas, and cellos. After four years in Bissolotti’s workshop, Lorenzo and his wife, Kathrin, opened their own workshop in the heart of Cremona in 2001.

In 2010, he moved to Case Gramonti, Pianello Val Tidone (Piacenza), the town where he grew up. There, with his wife Kathrin’s indispensable support, he continues to uphold the traditional “Cremonese” method, which is deeply connected to an important classical master violin maker from the Val Tidone Valley: Giovan Battista Guadagnini. Born in 1711 in Bilegno, near Borgonovo Val Tidone—just a few kilometers from Pianello—Guadagnini’s legacy remains a key influence in Lorenzo’s work.

Lorenzo’s instruments are refined and elegant, reflecting his commitment to reinterpreting the models of renowned Cremonese makers such as Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, and Nicolò Amati, as well as those of the Brescian school—represented by Gasparo da Salò—and the Venetian tradition, embodied by Domenico Montagnana.

Since 2016 he plays in "Luigi Cremona" Orchestra, based in Agazzano (PC), as first classical guitar.

He constantly strives to create instruments that combine powerful, harmonically rich sound with well-proportioned, elegant aesthetics. Each of his instruments bears the unmistakable mark of his distinctive personality and reflects his deep passion for the craft.

Kathrin was born in Bern, the capital of Switzerland. After studying the cello in Basel, she decided to move to Cremona to attend the International School of Violin Making, where she trained under the guidance of Master Ernesto Vaia.

Her instruments are distinguished by their delicate and harmonious style, always meticulously crafted with passion and dedication. While the cello holds a special place in her heart, she also builds violins and violas, favoring unique woods such as poplar.

In 2001, Kathrin and Lorenzo got married and opened their own workshop together. Since then, they have shared the workshop, engaging in a continuous and constructive dialogue.
